The splitting of the Education Ministry in the wake of the recent Cabinet reshuffle has drawn flak from local think tank, Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (Ideas), with their chief executive Wan Saiful Wan Jan saying that the prime minister had politicised education in the country.

“Rather than spending resources on consolidating the merge between Education and Higher Education it seems he is going backwards by splitting the ministry again,” said Wan Saiful.

“How is the public going to believe that education in this country is not politicised and that the promises in the Blueprint are to be fulfilled?”
