IDEAS receives grant from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) Fund for advocacy work on anti-corruption reforms
Kuala Lumpur, 20 April 2015 – The Institute For Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) is pleased to announce that it was recently awarded a grant from the National Endowment For Democracy (NED) fund. Each year the NED makes direct grants to nongovernmental organisations worldwide working to advance democratic goals and strengthen democratic institutions.
The USD 40,000 grant will go towards IDEAS’ advocacy work in promoting:

Reforms to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission – specifically the creation of the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (IACC), an independent constitutional body

The separation of the role of the Attorney General and the Public Prosecutor

Malaysia’s participation into the Open Government Partnership.
The funding period spans 1 year and involves activities such as policy paper publications, public forums and high level round-tables.
