Now that the TPP negotiation has concluded, IDEAS would like to explore whether or not this fear that Malaysia’s national sovereignty will be subject to US power and that we will become subservient to the US’ priorities. At the same time, some also claim that the TPPA will enable big companies to victimise smaller countries like Malaysia, swallowing up smaller local companies and even suing the government through the inter-state dispute settlement mechanism.
For this reason, IDEAS will be hosting a forum to learn from the experiences of other countries.
The highlights of the forum will include a Keynote Address by the Ambassador of Mexico, H.E. Carlos Isauro Felix Corona, who will be answering the key question “Did the US bully Mexico?” and Dr Le Dang Doanh , Senior Economist, Association of Vietnam Economist who will speak on US-Vietnam Billateral Trade Agreement.
